There are those who will tell you that Tremere is the founder of this clan, as well as its head; some say that Caine himself leads the Tremere; a few say that we created ourselves through magic; most believe that a formerly minor clan made the mistake of embracing a house of Wizards. They are, of course, all right and all wrong. Unlife is like that sometimes.

The truth is, we were created by the Malkavians in an insane plot to remove attention from themselves by attracting it to us. We (a house of mages known as Tremere) had little choice in the matter, but have only partially minded. The loss of goodwill from our associates certainly smarts, but the ability to increase our power probably makes up for this.
